Ceramic Tile Edge Sander
It features two different grit surfaces for smoothing rough edges on freshly cut tiles.
Ceramic tile edge sander. A fine grit sandpaper a 220 grit is preferred can be used to sand off the shiny and slick top surface of the tile. To make things realy simple contact a supplier of discontinued tiles yellow pages tile shops they wiil be expensive 4 5 per tile you could try the sander i think you wiil go through belts rapily try one and see how it goes or take them to your local tile supplier they wiil most likely have a diamond saw and cut them for you. Once the edge has been dulled work your way up to 200 grit sandpaper and then 400 grit sandpaper to polish the edge for maximum smoothness. Orient the tiles so that the smooth edge is on the outside of your tiled project.

The rougher the edge on the ceramic tile the lower the grit of sandpaper needed to smooth it out. Glass tiles typically have a smooth uncut edge and a sharp cut edge. Sandpaper with a 220 grit will remove the shine from the tile but won t leave permanent marks. Put a drop cloth under the area you ll be sanding to catch much of the dust.
Similarly put masking tape at the edge of the tile area where it meets the wall. Whenever i cut a tile it ends up having a very rough and jagged edge. Dual grit sanding and rubbing stone. A belt sander should be used if the edges are flat.
Porcelain tiles have sharp edges when cut especially if you used tile nippers to trim them. If the edges are curved use a rotary sander. Sand the tiles with a hand orbital sander and 220 grain sandpaper. The stone is designed to fit comfortably in your hand for ease of use.
Nippers trim away small chunks of material which leaves behind a rough jagged edge. 220 grit is recommended to sand ceramic tiles. Hold the tools with gentle hands and inspect the edges regularly. In this video i show you how to smooth out the rough edges of a cut tile.
A gritted paper like 220 won t scar the surface like grittier papers although much sandpaper will have to be used to get past the thick coating. This will make the clean up easier when you finish. It will also rough up the surface. This way the rough cut edges will be touching one another.
Check to make sure the tiles appear scratched and feel rough after they have been sanded.
